Kat Ramsey (°1986, Kansas City, United States) is an artist who works in a variety of media. By focusing on techniques and materials, Ramsey investigates the dynamics of art, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what art means to the viewer.
Her artworks establish a link between reality and that imagined by its conceiver. These works focus on concrete subjects and questions that determine our existence but allow for the mind to wander the land of dreams and possibilities. Working to evoke memories, experiences, and deeper thought by exploring the concept of what could be in a nostalgic way, she considers making art a craft which is executed using clear formal rules and which should always refer to social reality.
Her works are notable for their perfect finish and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to great craftsmanship. Kat Ramsey currently lives and works in Mission.
